We have had a lovely family day for Easter Sunday. We started with a lovely lie in and then an easter egg hunt (inside as it is raining today). Savannah wanted to go swimming and to my surprise the leisure centre at Maidstone was open so Tony, Imogen and Savannah went swimming whilst I watched on (I don’t really enjoy swimming much).
On our return one I got the roast dinner started and then I managed to get an hour of sewing in. In that time I made a larger pin cushion and another lanyard for me for work.
Well sadly the week has not ended that well. I have the dreaded cold that my hubby and kids have been putting up with and I am feeling very sorry for myself. I do hate colds they make you feel so awful but thankfully I get them very infrequently so I guess I should count myself lucky. But anyway before the dreaded lurgey set in I did manage to get some serious sewing done and I thought I would show you it here.
The top picture is from The Quilt Room found here and took me a day to do. I have the backing and wadding just need to finish it off now. The second picture is my own design called “Shattered” and will be a quilt for my eldest daughter and the bottom picture is a cushion that I made and was taken off me by my youngest daughter.
I have had a lovely week off work and feel like I have my mojo back a bit.
I have finally managed to find some time to get a little bit of sewing in. This is the third cushion in a set of 4 that I am making for a friend. Another new technique for me but I have posted previously about it. I have made a couple of these and made quite a few errors so this is the current incarnation of this design.
I do quite like this and think that I will make a lot more using this technique.
Congratulations Christine. Your name was drawn by my little Savannah and you are (or will be) the proud owner of a little owl. Can you email me your address and colour choice from blue pink or green and I will get him or her made and on his way to you.
Thank you so much to everyone who replied and let me a little note about how they have spent their Easter I have enjoyed chatting with you all a little bit and I hope to have made some new friends from this also.
Right best be off, got a tutorial to finish and an owl to make ;o)
Thank you so much, I finally reached the 6000 views mark and I did promise a prize draw. So who wants one then? Oh…alright then here we go.
The prize is one of my cute little owls. It will be the smaller size owl (shown above) and in material of my choosing but you can select a colour theme from blue, pink or green. All you have to do is leave me a comment below telling me how you spent your Easter and I will enter your name into the hat. The winning name will be drawn on Monday evening and I will announce it on here.
As the famous saying goes you gotta be in it to win it. Good luck to you all.
Right excuse the bad light it is dark outside and artificial light is really naff for taking pictures in…anyhoo….meet Peri. She is Obie’s little sister and she is very tired.
The iPod Touch is so you can judge their size. Aren’t they cute. I have really enjoyed making these, i think my house may be about to be over run by owls. Wonder what my hubby will make of that LOL
Savannah asked for an elephant so may I introduce Ebie. Once again I used an online pattern and modified it. If you click on the picture of Ebie you will be taken to my Flickr album and the link for the pattern can be found there.
I discovered yesterday that my eldest daughter has a thing for owls so please let me introduce you to Obie.
I cant take credit for the basic pattern and for those of you who want the pattern if you click on the picture of Obie you will be taken to my Flickr page where there is a link you can follow.
Happy Easter folks, hope you have a lovely relaxing and refreshing weekend what ever Easter means to you.
Thank you Cathy for your encouragement I only went and did it!!! And I am very pleased with how it turned out! I used satin stitch for the outline and then back stitch for all the detail inside the heart. I will use it on a pillow cover I think something for me xxx
I would love to hear what you think of this, I think I will do some more of my designs in sewing as well, they translate very well.
