Now I may be setting myself up to fail here but I have got a new lens for my camera for Christmas as have decided that I would try to post a photo a week throughout 2016. I have a Nikon D3200 and my new lens is a Nikkor AF-S 35mm 1:1.8G.
I have had a look around at some different sites and have drawn up the following list of challenges for me to photograph over the next 12 months. Of course it would be fab if you reading this would join in also but I am doing this for my own development in photography so if you are here simply to have a look at my journey then welcome along and enjoy the ride. Constructive feedback on my photos is also greatly received and welcomed. The date posted is the Monday and I will post my picture on the Sunday at the end of the week.

Lets see how this goes then.
I hope you have all had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you all a very happy healthy and prosperous 2016 with lots and lots of photos to remember it by.
I hope this finds you well and recovered from the excesses of the Christmas and New Year celebrations. We had a fairly quiet Christmas and saw the New Year in with friends. Considering that I had a poor nights sleep the night before I did a sterling job of staying awake long enough to see 2015 in.
Today we went out for a while (the first proper time since Christmas I think), the weather was pretty murky and on the way home I got this picture.
I am really happy with this shot. It was taken on my iPhone 5S and I have simply made it black and white and blurred the edges. What do you think?
I was going to put it on my Flickr album but I have forgotten my password and thought I could log in through Google but this is being discontinued as is Facebook login and the link took me to a page in chinese or japanese and I am not sure if this is legit or not! So for the moment I think Instagram is the place for me!
Can I get instagram on my macbook? i need to go off and check that
Anyway enough for now. Happy new year to you all and see you soon
Firstly I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got everything that you put on your list. I hope you are all gearing up for the New Year and all that it may bring you. It has been such a long time since I wrote and I have no idea why. Maybe my blog mojo pottered off for a little siesta, maybe I have been so busy in my life that I had little time for blogging but I am still here and still plodding along.
Summer has been and gone and I have been hard studying with my asthma module and then in October I began my Prescribing module at University. This is a challenging module and needs me to be focused and organised.
From a photography and sewing perspective not much has been happening but I keep trying to dabble and will keep on doing so cos I enjoy it.
Then all of a sudden it was Christmas. Savannah got a Kindle and is totally made up with it. We also got her a metal detector that she has asked for for the last 2 years and a walk on the beach the day after Boxing day turned up 3 pence, 2 rusted pieces of iron, 1 nut and 1 washer. I feel that there may be many evenings on the beach in the summer with this gift and lots of fun.
Imogen got so many bits and pieces for Christmas, she was going to have driving lessons but has changed her mind for the moment. She has such a busy year coming up, interviews for University are already lined up, trips to Disney with her Health and Social group, 18th Birthday in the summer. I can’t believe my little girl is nearly 18, how time flies.
Anyway enough babble for the moment, Happy New Year to you all, may you all have health, happiness and wealth.
So it has been a while since I did #fmsphotoaday and as I have been able to open one of my Christmas presents early I thought it would be a good time to start again. So todays theme is Sparkly and look what I have been able to do with my new fantastic Nikon D3200. I am a happy girlie!!!
Today I have made my Christmas cake ready for a weekly dose of brandy before I decorate it in December. I have never made one before so this is a bit of an experiment. Tony and I have bought a bottle of brandy goodness knows if it is a good one or not but the proof of the cooking is in the eating (is that right!!!!).
While the cake was in the oven cooking (3 hours can you believe) we went for a walk to the cemetery. As grim as that sounds it is a beautiful place to go for a peaceful walk. The conkers are all falling from the trees and the beauty of this place is that the local kids have not found them and trashed the trees to get them down. I took my macro lens for my iPhone with me and managed to get some lovely shots.
I am trying to enjoy this time of year but I am struggling a bit at the moment. Work has presented me with some challenges of late which have significantly stressed me out. I am trying to deal with them and little things like today help me calm down and get some perspective.
Anyhoo, must go to feed the cake. Pictures to follow
So here we are 3 sleeps till Christmas and yup, no2 daughter is poorly. It is my fault because only last week I was boasting that she is never unwell and now here we are with a temperature of 38.5, headache and generally feeling appalling. She even took herself to bed for a couple of hours this afternoon. This is unheard of.
I did manage to use the time productively by finally getting some presents wrapped but now cabin fever is setting in. Not with me you understand but with my husband. He cannot stand being cooped up indoors for more than a few hours so a day at home is pure and simple torture. Added to that the fact that the car is on the fritz, Christmas is sooo expensive and the weather is quite simply appalling going out anywhere was simply never an option.
Christmas boredom sets in and it is still 3 days away!!!!
My latest creation is this love heart decoration. I hope to make quite a few of these and use them as part of my Christmas decorations. I have the idea of some kind of bunting design with the jute twine that I have bought. I have cut all the hearts out now just to put them together.
I am still sewing the blocks together for my Drunkards Path quilt as well but I find sewing the same thing over and over really boring so I have to do it in stages. Goodness only knows how long that will take me ha ha ha.
…….Christmas!!!! I know I know the kids have only just gone back to school and already the dreaded C word has been uttered but you know it will be upon us in the blink of an eye and we will wonder how time got away with us.
I have been browsing around the internet looking at Christmas decorations and found this fab tutorial and was reminded of my mum making these when I was a kid. Click here to go to the tutorial (apologies for the huge picture must get my head round getting pictures onto my blog!!)
Has anyone else started thinking about Christmas yet or am I alone? My iPhone reliably informs me that we only have 113 sleeps to go eeek!
We have been out for a walk today to blow away all the Christmas cobwebs and took the camera with us. On the way home I managed to grab a few good shots of the cooling towers at Richborough Power Station. There is a possibility that these will be demolished before the end of this year. I quite like them they are an iconic image and to me they mean that my journey has begun when leaving Thanet and that I am nearly home when coming back into Thanet.
For most people they represent Marmite…..you either like them or you don’t and I think the don’t party will win and they will be erased from our horizon soon.
